Having set off to wander through the enchanted forest, the main character of the project Muffin Knight got lost in the wilds – for a long time he zigzag along the narrow forest paths, periodically bumping into the edges that had already been met, walked in a shorter circle, almost losing hope of finding the way to his native village. But if you can get past this and the hit or miss nature of the effectiveness in some characters in combat, Muffin Knight is goofy, delightful fun that family members of different ages and skills can enjoy together.In a certain kingdom, in a certain state, an unpleasant story happened to one little tomboy, and the reason for this was his restlessness and desire to travel to unfamiliar places. For a title that thrives on a quick-play vibe, this is a major oversight. The iOS version of the game has a flaw (glitch?) that requires players to watch the entire backstory cut-scene each and every time they load the game. If you die over and over again, you just keep trying and keep laughing. The great thing, though, is that it's hard to take too seriously. While a panda flopping on the ground is a hilarious idea as a combat method, it's not particularly practical in action.īut that's all part of the charm of Muffin Knight, and what little strategy there is often comes in the form of fighting off as much as you can while you have a good combat character. Unfortunately, some characters are great, while others are duds. Those who prefer precision and planning will find the experience frustrating, as the characters change every time you capture a muffin, and you have no control over what you get. Muffin Knight is just silly and unpredictable enough to make fast-paced platforming action surprisingly engaging. Players can also choose to enjoy multiplayer co-op or versus, either on local Wi-Fi or online with friends or strangers, and during multiplayer co-op games, players can revive each other to keep the round going.

As players earn points, they can use them to upgrade their characters, unlock new levels, or level up their lives. Rounds may go quickly, especially for less experienced players, but it's easy to start a new round and keep playing. They can then continue on that level, or change to a different level.
When players "die," either by coming in contact with a foe, or falling in a ravine, the round ends and points are tallied.
There are 18 characters to unlock with skills/weapons that include magic, guns, fire, boomerang bananas, and rolling pumpkin heads. Each time the player collects a muffin, they randomly transform into a different character with a different special attack abilities. Regardless of what section you play, the goal is to collect as many muffins as possible while fighting off foes. Each level has a new layout and theme with different foes and challenges. Players start on The Bridge level, but unlock additional stages as they play the game. The fairy who owned the baked goods curses the boy to travel as a knight, fighting foes and collecting muffins. A young boy finds a basket of muffins in the forest, but when he touches them, they explode. MUFFIN KNIGHT begins, as many fairy tales do, with a curse.
